Many Hands...Make a Difference!


Together, we can accomplish great things!

MRE has many opportunities to for parents to be involved! The staff and the PTA appreciates the support of everyone who does so! If you would be interested in helping out in any of the following ways, please feel free to contact Shannon Wittenberg, PTA President, sstevenslmt@aol.com. Or call the school, or your child’s teacher, to find out if there is something else you could do to make a difference that is not listed below. Don’t be shy about suggesting a creative way you can volunteer using your special talents or passions!

_____ Print Shop: Help to make copies for teachers.  Jill Hott is the coordinator of the Print Shop and needs 4 or 5 helping hands to make it successful.

_____ Classroom Helper:  Help teachers with certain tasks in the classroom as they need you.  Please list the teachers of your child/children: __________________________________________

_____ Box Tops, Campbell’s Labels & Tyson Labels: (twice a year for 1-2 hours) Help to clip, sort, and count box tops and Campbell’s labels.  Darlene Dotson is the chairperson of this task and needs 4 helping hands.

_____ Donuts with Dads: (October 19) Moms Needed!  Help with set up night before/take down, serve donuts & milk/juice, take pictures.  Marcy Olnhausen is the chairperson for this event and needs about 10-12 helping hands to make it successful.

_____ Reflections: Assist in assembling entries appropriately and getting them to state on time (November).  Mary Jane Pridgeon is the chairperson for this event and need 2-3 helping hand to make it successful.

_____ Winter Event – Bingo Night: (January 25) Help to set up/clean up and man the activities. Cindy Clark is the chairperson and 5-6 additional helping hands to make this event successful.

_____ Principal Appreciation Week: (February 4-8) Help to decorate and organize lunch.  Bridgett Huss is the chairperson for this event and needs 2-3 helping hands to make it successful.

_____ Scrapbooking Event: (February 16) Help to set up/take down and set food out for meal times.  Shannon Wittenberg is the chairperson for this event and needs 8-10 helping hands to make it successful.    

_____ Book Fair: (March 4-8) Help with set up/take down, re-order books, run cash register, assist students with selections.  Holly Bauman and Julie Scout are the co-chairs for this event and needs 10-15 helping hands to make it successful.         

_____ Fun Run: (April 26) Cathy Canning and Stacy Boisselle are the co-chairs for this event and need help setting up and passing out water to students on the day of the event.  We will need a few parent volunteers to make this event successful.

_____ Staff Appreciation Week: (May 6-10) Help to setup, clean up, and/or donate food, drinks, & paper products.  Chere Elwartowski, Julie Healy and Elizabeth Johnson are the co-chairs for this event and needs many helping hands to make it successful.

_____ Morning with Mom: (May 3) Dads Needed!  Help with set up night before/take down, serve donuts & milk/juice, take pictures.  Michael Way is the chairperson for this event and needs about 20 helping hands to make it successful.

_____ Fifth Grade Recognition: (June 3) Help to purchase cake and set up/get cake and punch ready.  Wendy Garcia is the chairperson for this event and needs several helping hands to make it successful.

_____ Fifth Grade Pancake Breakfast: (June 3) Elizabeth Johnson is the chairperson for this event and will need some helping hands to prep, cook and serve.

Sometimes people have special talents and passions but aren’t sure where it fits into the needs of a
school.  Let us know what these are for you and we will help find that special fit.  My special talent or

How You Can Help:

Print Shop: Help to make copies or other tasks for teachers.

Staff Appreciation Week: (May 6-10) Help to set-up, clean-up, and/or donate food, drinks and paper products.

Fifth Grade Recognition: (June 3) Arrange for refreshments and student gifts and set-up/clean-up the day of the event.

Next Year’s Open House: Help to set -up/clean-up and man the activities (1/2 hour to 1 hour shifts).
